MD Pool Lap Number Five

As Lexingtonians, giddy from a possible ice storm and Cats upswing storm the grocery in droves for bread and milk (yes, they do that here....shrug) another edition from the Mayor of Baldville is posted for your viewing pleasure.

East

1 Duke v 16 Morgan State - No, Todd Bozeman does not plan to pay the Devils to throw the game.
2 Texas v 15 Rider - In '96 UK greeted Rider to the tournament with a 60-point pounding. Similar seems on the horizon with Jason Thompson going for nearly 60.
3 Michigan State v 14 Cornell - Second verse, same as the first.
4 Butler v 13 VCU - From Graves/Curry to Graves/Maynor.
5 Louisville v 12 UMass - From Vader/Skywalker to Pitino/Ford.
6 Notre Dame v 11 NC State - A win by the Irish sets up a rematch of the '79 national semi.
7 Rhode Island v 10 Arkansas - The Rams were a 7 seed when Odom took them to the Final 8.
8 Arizona v 9 Ohio State - RANT PATROL! Is Kostas Koufos afraid of going inside ten feet or does he want to be the next Brad Lohaus?

South

1 Memphis v 16 Alabama State/Sacred Heart - At least the Pioneers or Hornets can add a dance floor win to their resume.
2 Drake v 15 Belmont - Don't think a Tim McGraw pep talk helps Belmont.
3 UCLA v 14 UMBC - ICAB (I C A Blowout)
4 Pitt v 13 Davidson - The Panthers are the most resilient bunch in the land.
5 Texas A&M v 12 St. Joseph's - Hawks hang on in the pool by a thread.
6 Indiana v 11 Miss. State - Upset alert...the Hoosiers finally beat a top 50 team last week.
7 Clemson v 10 Syracuse - Orange make Lunardi's Bracketology!
8 Ole Miss v 9 Gonzaga - fasten your seatbelts.

Midwest

1 Tennessee v 16 American - The school of diplomats and aldermen would make their dance debut.
2 UNC v 15 Austin Peay - Peay's conference mate Eastern Kentucky gave the Heels a scare last year.
3 UConn v 14 UNC-Asheville - George/Thabeet will make an interesting battle.
4 St. Mary's v 13 Kent State - Sorry Flashes but Antonio Gates is out of eligiblity. However former student Drew Carey is available for one-liners.
5 Washington State v 12 Oral Roberts - If ORU doesn't win the Lord will call its founder home.
6 Dayton v 11 BYU - Plaisted gives the Cougars a big advantage (no pun intended).
7 Baylor v 10 USC - Battle of once downtrodden programs.
8 Kansas State v 9 Purdue - The Gene Keady bowl (the Toad plied his trade for the Wildcats on the gridiron)

West

1 Kansas v 16 Portland State - Is this year Self gets off the shelf?
2 Georgetown v 15 Cal State-Northridge - They must've gotten chewed by John III.
3 Xavier v 14 Utah State - Maybe Sean Miller will grow the cheesy mustache he sported during his playing days at Pitt.
4 Stanford v 13 Stephen F. Austin - A new Pac-10 sheriff in town?
5 Vanderbilt v 12 Ohio - Bobcats were my last at-large.
6 Wisconsin v 11 Illinois State - RANT PATROL! Not to pick on the Big-10 but I see the Badgers going down in the first round. In fact the Midwest is in for a rude awakening on whole come March.
7 So. Alabama v 10 Florida - No three-peat but I could see the Gators giving the Hoyas a scare in Round 2.
8 Marquette v 9 UNLV - Marquette will be the toughest team to figure out in March.

So Joey LUNARD...as I like to call him, has syracuse in there at a 10 seed...wow, thats a guy that loves to bash the cuse too. Maybe its just me or does everyone picking brackets now have syracuse in at these low seeds because of them not getting in last year? I take it now that the theory is because Syracuse had a decent season last year but was thrown out, bracketoligists all around (and I count myself as one as I use to take the time to do this back in the 5th through 12th grades) now believe that they are owed something from last year. I don't know though, this team probably may not even play in the NIT, I just don't see it...I guess I have been their harshest critic this year!?!?!?!? I hope that everyone proves me wrong for the sake of them making the tournament however if they are sitting at a 10 seed they most likely will be one and done which will piss off the die hards like us because we all feel/felt they could win a few games!

I hear you loud and clear....the Orange has a sick amount of talent but they aren't able to put it together with consistency. Devo is obviously missed even though he had too many TOs for his position.
