Others....88 NCAA championship Kansas over Oklahoma. Danny Manning and a bunch of CPAs over a starting five that never got a rest under a breakneck Tubbs system.

'93 Breeders Cup Classic won by Arcangues, a 133-1 shot ridden by Jerry Bailey, who admitted he couldn't pronounce the horse's name.

97 NCAA 'Ship Arizona becomes the first team to knock out three 1 seeds completing it by beating UK. Miles Simon can officially suck it for eternity.

But we end with revenge...'93 NCAA 1st round - who knew that a Canadian 165-pound freshman with a pompadour would make 50 free throws in a row and lead a bunch of stoned surfers to victory as 15-seed Santa Clara over 2-seed 'Zona.

Bald,

Good calls on those, I thought that the '88 Kansas team was some what of an upset. Good call on the Breeders cup unfortunately I don't follow horse racing close but that should be in a biggest upsets list.

Now although we would love to forget, how about the upsets that have come at the cost of Syracuse. I could make a case of the Richmond Spiders beating in what I thought was one of Syracuses most dominant teams...could be in this SI list due to the fact that they were the first ever 2 seed to loose to a 15. Also you could make the case that stupid Vermont, with a bunch of hicks, beating up on a solid Syracuse team a few years back could be in this list. Amazing, they could compile a list of greatest upsets and Syracuse could be in about 10 of them as the team to get upset!

Somewhere Adrian Autry still rages when he sees a spider.

Also...89 NCAAs - 14-seed Siena over 3-seed Stanford. The "Quarantine Gang" which had a measles epidemic on their campus and couldn't play before fans until they got to the dance knock off the Todd Lichti-led Cardinal and send Loudonville into a frenzy not bought on severe fever and the runs.

At least one of those is suspect - I mean who gives a shit about Stanford/USC.

I echo B-Dub's Kansas/Okie final - as baldy might remember, my father and I hated the cocky, loud-mouthed Billy Tubbs, and seeing him lose to Danny and the Miracles, was one of our greatest non-SU college b-ball moments.

I also remember commenting to my buddy, and huge Rickey Henderson fan, Chris, right before the '90 WS - "What if they (the Reds) just fucking swept them (the A's)?"

His reply? "Yeah, right."

Other fond basketball memories from the Marcus pater familas...

1985 NCAAs..."Hey Dad, tell Marc what you think of Dick Vitale?"
"He's a horse's ass."

1986 - Loyola(Chicago)'s last great team led by Carl "Go-Go" Golston. Coach Gene Sullivan is interviewed by Billy Packer after a win but something goes wrong with the audio sync leading to this great comment....
"Hah! Sullivan looks like he's talking out of his asshole!"

It's just desserts that Tubbs disappeared from the national hoops landscape soon after that '88loss. Like father, like son, I too hated that bastard.
