Pool Lap Number Two

I'm getting an appreciation for the things the committee has to do.

Sadly, the dream of nine Beast teams has died a temporary death. When Cincy and DePaul plug up the works by sitting near the top somebody had to be sacrificed, so the UConn Huskies take a powder.

East

1) UNC v. 16) Lafayette
2) Michigan State v. 15) Cornell
3) Vanderbilt v. 14) Siena
4) Texas A&M v. 13) VCU
5) Drake v. 12) Cleveland State
6) Villanova v. 11) Miami (Fla.)
7) Rhode Island v. 10) Oregon
8) West Virginia v. 9) Arizona

South

1) Memphis v. 16) Alabama St./Wagner
2) UCLA v. 15) UMBC
3) Indiana v. 14) Hampton
4) Dayton v. 13) UNC-Asheville
5) Ole Miss v. 12) Akron
6) Gonzaga v. 11) Illinois State
7) Marquette v. 10) North Carolina State
8) Baylor v. 9) Louisville

Midwest

1) Kansas v. 16) Belmont
2) Georgetown v. 15) Austin Peay
3) Washington State v. 14) Davidson
4) St. Mary's v. 13) Oral Roberts
5) Butler v. 12) UNLV
6) Xavier v. 11) Florida
7) Clemson v. 10) Creighton
8) Ohio State v. 9) Providence

West

1) Tennessee v. 16) Northern Arizona
2) Duke v. 15) Utah State
3) Texas v. 14) Stephen F. Austin
4) Pitt v. 13) Cal State-Northridge
5) Wisconsin v. 12) San Diego State
6) Stanford v. 11) Kent State
7) South Alabama v. 10) Syracuse
8) UMass v. 9) Oklahoma

Best games - Marquette v. NC State (contrasting strengths) and South Alabama v. Syracuse (doesn't go in my upset file as I think these two are very evenly matched).

Upsets - Akron over Ole Miss (most of LeBron's high school teammates play for the Zips) and VCU over Texas A&M (the Aggies are inexplicably sinking).

And while they won't win SFA will give Texas everything they can handle - I love games between teams from the same state.
