For my second list in the spirit of the Hall of Fame season that is upon us I thought I would bring up some debate about the NFL Hall of Famers up for induction this year and stir up some more heated and emotional conversation on who is in and who is out. Here is the list that I have been able to compile (please note I did not include everyone on this list as some of the players up for induction I do not know nor do I think you would either). I will post the list, please feel free to post your opinions and we will go from there.
Art Monk - A very heated discussion for us Syracuse fans every year he is on the ballot
Chris Carter - I think we can all agree on this one
Andre Reed
Terrell Davis - Did he play long enough???
Darrell Green - Not even any question here
Russ Grimm - Made all 80's team
Randy McDaniel - Good not great
Richard Dent - very good not sure if he is a hall of famer though
Charles Haley - same can be said as is about Dent
Lester Hayes
Joe Jacoby - Great on those dominant o-lines of the redskins
Cortez Kennedy
Kenny Stabler - the Snake...probably not going to slither into the hall though
Steve Tasker
Kevin Greene
Derrick Thomas
Ray Guy - Rated among most who saw him play, the best punter ever, and if you put stock in
putting kickers and punters in he needs to be there
Andre Tippet - the LT Jr. of the 80's
Non-Players
Paul Tagliabue - Yes he should be
George Young - DEFINITELY YES he should be
And here is a link if you would like to cast your vote:

Without any research, if you can vote for six, these are my six . . .
Chris Carter - second behind rice in recieving TDs, and one of the top 7 receivers I've ever seen . . .
Lester Hayes - along with a prime (time) Deion, the best shutdown corner I ever saw play . . .
Joe Jacoby - THE monster on the most notorious offensive line in football history (THE HOGS) . . .
Kevin Greene - The "Hulk" was a pass rushing machine . . .
Derrick Thomas - See Greene above, but better . . .
Ray Guy - No position in sports is identified in more than "punter" is identified with Ray Guy . . . shoulda been in years ago . . .
If I had a few more, I think Darrell Green might be next . . . and Art Monk, of course . . .
Shoulda said "identified with a single person" as opposed to "in" regarding Guy, above . . .
My six...
Monk - Had the longest consecutive game streak for what seemed like forever.
Green - Duh....
Guy - Yeah he was a punter but is recognized as the greatest ever at his position.
Hayes - Responsible for a rule change but without the goo was a demon as a DB.
Carter - Randy Moss has to give a lot of credit to him. Second-best receiver behind Rice during their prime.
Reed - Third-best behind Rice and Carter in their prime.
Romo(homo)cop and Baldo,
Good picks here but a few things stand out...
Romocop you stated Green would be next almost as if you are stating your not convinced yet and in flipping the roles in arguing with you here are some things that make him undoubtablly a HOF:
7 time pro-bowler
Named All-pro 4 times
Named to all decade team in the 90s
His longevity is a big plus (I think a keey attribute in the NFL) of 20 years
Ranks 8th all time in interceptions and 12th all time in interceptions returned for TDs. And 5th all time for games started.
He was a versatile player at corner and returning punts, his speed was remarkable (4 time fastest man)
Gotta put Green in there no doubt about it.
Also Derrick Thomas, at first I didn't think he deserved to be in but then I examined him more closely (and the main reason was due to the fact that his career was tragically cut short) But you can convince me to vote for him with 9 pro bowls, 3 All-pro selections, 1990's all decade team, defensive rookie of the year in 89, and holds a record for 45 forced fumbles. I actually think you gotta put this guy in.
Also I think you have to take Greene (although I hated this guy) he was a 5 time pro-bowler and a 3 time all-pro and 96 defensive player of the year. Plus he he had a short wrestling career in the WCW that has to play into it!!!
Others for me would be Guy (and I agree 100 percent Guy should have been in there years ago and I can be bias due to the fact that I was a kicker and I would definitely vote one in if he was good enough in my mind, he won games as a punter and was the first to do so)
I would also have to put Hayes and Jacoby in due to the fact that they were just great football players alone.
Now we get to Monk (davols is going to try and make a strong case) here is why he is not going to get in:
Only a 3 time pro-bowler (thats rough), 3 time all-pro which is good but aside from '84 the only time he lead in receptions (106 which ranks 27th all time) other than that never regained his lead and you can base that on Rice. He ranks 83rd all time in career TDs (31st all time in recieving TDs). Those numbers don't really qualify for the hall based on some others who have made it. Now he does have a couple of rings and in my heart I would vote him in due to the fact that I am bias and a syracuse guy but I don't think he is going to get in with those numbers (although I pray that he does some day)!!!
Reed also makes a good debate as I never thought he was the best in any of the seasons he played and was an intrical part of 4 SB loosing teams (Irvin who has lesser stats got in before him due to the fact he was an intrical part of 3 SB winning teams) but as I argue in baseball I am not all about getting one guy into the HOF based on rings (IE the Mattingly arguement of mine). He did make 4 pro bowls, and ranks 5th all time in receptions better than Irvin, so if you put that crack head in then I guess you gotta put Reed in but to me I never viewed him as a hall of famer!!!
I love the HOF debates, great topic in sports discussions!!!
Oh also Chris Carter is a no brainer...he was probably the best receiving in the game in the mid 90's and his numbers show that!!!
Green would be my seventh guy if you can pick more than 6 - not sure of rule. In beisbol, the writers can vote for 10.
