You are still sticking with Syracuse here now dropping them down to a 10 seed...I am as big an Orange fan as anyone but I just don't see it to be true and here's why...
1. We have seen time and time again the committee, for whatever reason, has been very harsh on Syracuse, here is a team that played well in the last 10 games (a big part of there criteria) and whom won over 20 games ( another key part to the formula) not get in last year.
2. I can't remember when a big time team from a big conference received a seed lower than an 9, maybe there is a case out there, however generally if you are giving a bigger program a 10 seed you most likely as a committee member are tossing them out of the pool rather than just trying to find them a place in the tourney.
3. If I am a committee member I have not seen today anything that works in favor of Syracuse, with home losses early to Umass and RI a bad loss to Cincy a bad loss to WV (on the road but against OK teams that they could have beaten) where is the resume for this team right now to get in. I would flop this argument if they had won at G-Town (that game pissed me off) and if they could have musterd a win at home against a Villanova team that I don't think is that good (up by what 12 and then just let it go away).
Bottom line, and I am a pessimist, I don't think nor am I looking forward to seeing Syracuse play in the big dance again this year unless they somehow get some big wins late in the year, get close to 20 or more, and get deep into the BE...then we will see how badly screwed they are when the committee still doesn't have any love for them!!!
I agree Syracuse isn't helping their cause, however...
1) Nine Beast teams have a top 50 RPI, including the Orange
2) Their last ten are favorable even though six are road games - G'Town is a home game.
3) UMass and Rhode Island should be in the tourney and for some reason the committee loves Huggy Bear so WV may be in as well.
A good start for the 'Cuse would be a win over DePaul which has had their fun mucking up the works.
But hey guys cheer up!! Bingo got in the dance this week! Whoo-hoo!
Holy shit, I didn't even notice Binghamton. NICE!!! Imagine that.
Hey, I tend to agree with Otto about the Cuse being shat upon anytime they are borderline - last year was an absolute fucking tragedy - but, on the other hand, B-Dub (that's ghetto for Bald Wonder) makes some great points, and perhaps the committee will go out of their way to make up for last season.
By the way Otto - it's B-Easy mothafucka!!!! Player o' the Year beeeottcchhh!!!
BTW, I meant to say "travesty of justice", but "tragedy" works just as well . . .
Beating DePaul was a definite help - and having tracked this weeks games so far I think West Virginia, USC and Miss. State have played themselves out for the moment.
If Bingo makes it and they end up in the playin game an appearance by the Bald man may be in order - the game is in Dayton not too far from my humble Bluegrass digs.
